COURSE DESCRIPTION & OVERALL GOAL

This interactive training will address key aspects of TB case management from a nursing perspective, including cultural competency, assessing and improving adherence, TB contact investigations, working with special populations, managing complications of TB treatment, and incorporating nurse case management skills as part of patient-centered TB care. The format includes pre-recorded lectures for self-paced learning accompanied by three live online sessions with discussions and case studies.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Enrollment is limited to registered nurses who are responsible for providing TB case management for patients with TB infection and disease.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

1. Enrollment is limited to TB nurse case managers who have a working knowledge of TB. Participants must be familiar with all aspects of TB disease and infection as outlined in the CDC Core Curriculum on Tuberculosis: What the Clinician Needs to Know.

2. This course will be conducted as three live 90-minute sessions (Nov 2, Nov 9, and Nov 16, 12:30 pm-2:00 pm, EST) occurring over three weeks with pre-course work and homework assignments. In order to apply for this course, participants must be available for all three live dates, must view recorded lectures and complete homework assignments. Interaction and discussion during the live online session is required.

3. Supervisor approval is needed. Continuing education credits will only be issued if the above requirements are fulfilled.
